Host a Teacher from France!

We hope that the community that supports French and World Languages would be interested in taking them to places of interest around Tulsa and Oklahoma, and opening their homes for dinners.”

February, 2020:  Through the Oklahoma State Department of Education – World Languages memorandum of understanding with the Academie d’Amiens, Tulsa Public Schools will host a group of French teachers who will be in their Sister City of Tulsa for two weeks, arriving together on Saturday, February 8 in the evening.  Each pair of teachers are assigned to a specific Tulsa Public school and they will have a car to share to get around.  They depart as a group on Saturday, February 22.

Two math middle school teachers shadow math teachers at Carver, three elementary immersion teachers shadow at Eisenhower, a high school economics and business teacher and high school/vocational ed business teacher shadow at Edison.

Would you want to host one of the male high school business teachers in your home for a week or two?  If so, email to rsvp@aftulsa.org  to express your interest.  Any other interests in meeting the group or entertaining for a dinner, fill out our contact form, below.

The purpose of their visit is to have an English immersion experience themselves in the classroom and content area they will return to teach in their own immersion programs, as well as to experience the culture and family life here.

Frequently asked questions:  There can be flexibility in hosting arrangements.  Guest teachers could stay with the same family throughout the whole time, or split the time between two families, and/or visit others on weekends. In addition, each visiting teacher has their own budget to pay for food, reimbursable through this program.
