Here are several free cultural events coming in the final two weeks of May that AF de Tulsa wishes to share with our Alliance members:

French Cultural Events with Pamela Druckerman AFUSA – Federation of Alliances Francaises USA recently co-launched free Zoom sessions on aspects of French culture, language and history with Paris-based author Pamela Druckerman. Below is basic info on the next two sessions, which we promote to encourage your membership (the sessions are free). If you are interested and have not already received the details on these events, email to receive the link on Thursday evening prior to each event.

  1. Friday, May 22, 2020, 11 a.m. Central Featuring wine educator Jessica Green in conversation with Pamela Druckerman What You’re Drinking When You Drink French Wine: An Introduction and Tasting Tour
  2. Friday, May 29, 2020, 11 a.m. Central  Featuring Pamela Druckerman in conversation with Bill Buford, best-selling author of Dirt: Adventures in Lyon as a Chef in Training, Father, and Sleuth Looking for the Secret of French Cooking Is Lyon the birthplace of French cooking?

Five Free Films offered by FIAF NY through the End of May Curator’s Picks: French Films from FIAF & Kino Lorber Just twelve days left to access five fabulous French films, available from FIAF / Alliance Francaise NY. Free access passes for 2000 streams will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. A small fee will be charged for each stream after this. Details here: 

Film Discussions offered by AF Greenwich May 20May 27, and June 3, 2020 (4 p.m. Central) 

FOCUS ON FRENCH CINEMA (FFC) PresentsWorldwide Wednesdays in partnership with FIAF CinéSalon and Kino Lorber Each week FFC will recommend a French-language film that can be viewed online at home. On Wednesdays from 4-5 pm Central/Tulsa time, we invite you to join together via Zoom for an interactive Q&A hosted by programming director Joe Meyers, featuring guest film directors and actors as well as professionals in the film industry. Stream the film before the Q&A (details in the section above). Click on FIAF link and get an access pass to stream the film from Kino Lorber Now. 

Cuisine Event offered by AF GreenwichTuesday, May 26, 2020, 3 p.m. Central Live cooking class with Master Chef Jean-Louis Gerin. Demystifying Sous-Vide Cooking, which is cooking at precise temperatures. Master Chef, James Beard Award Winner, Maître Cuisinier de France, and “Chopped” Champion Jean-Louis Gerin will offer a free 1-hour live Zoom class from his kitchen in Greenwich, CT on “Demystifying Sous Vide”. He will demonstrate professional techniques that will make your sous vide experience at home fun and safe. See the Eventbrite invitation for more information and tickets.
