Classes

The Alliance Française de Tulsa offers small, intimate, relaxed lessons, emphasizing rapid immersion in French. The classes are available to AF members and you can join here, or give a check to your teacher at the first class meeting.

For example, if you are joining as an individual, you would pay $40 and the $200 tuition.  If you are joining as a family, you would pay $50 and the $200 tuition for each student.

“Le 7e art”– French films are presented with vocabulary and activities for the classroom at a beginner-level.  We can compare a film adaptation of a French book and sample a writing of a contemporary author whose book sales are often publicized through film.  Eight films, one per class session, will be examined.  Instructor: Judy Glenn

  • When: Mondays, two-hours, 5:00-7:00pm, weekly for eight (8) sessions;
  • Dates: August 26, 2019 – October 21, 2019 skipping Labor day holiday;
  • Where: Location will be arranged upon enrollment based on class size.
“Intermediate/Advanced Conversation” –  A lively, intimate group reading and discussing culture, arts, society and global current events in French, using authentic French materials.  A casual, stress-free way to improve your fluency and ease in conversation. Instructor: Nan Melton
  • When: Wednesdays, two-hours, 7:00-9:00pm, weekly for eight (8) sessions;
  • Start date: September 11, 2019;
  • Where: University of Tulsa Student Union

“Lire en français facile (LFF)”– With a selected book from the Hachette FLE collection, lessons will focus on reading comprehension, building vocabulary, listening and continuing to practice pronunciation with supplemental exercises.  Instructor: Judy Glenn

  • When: Wednesdays, two-hours, 5:00-7:00pm, weekly for eight (8) sessions;
  • Dates: September 4, 2019 – October 23, 2019;
  • Where: Location will be arranged upon enrollment based on class size.
“French for Travelers/Beginning French” –  Planning a trip to France—or dreaming of one?  Come gain essential survival skills and build your confidence to travel more comfortably!  This class focuses on conversational French as well as etiquette and insight into culture.  We’ll learn phrases you can use for dining out, shopping, sightseeing, getting around, asking questions, meeting people and more, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.  Grammar concepts are presented as tools to expand your horizons and go beyond just “phrasebook French.” Instructor: Nan Melton
