Since 1955 we have been dedicated to promoting the French language and its culture through programs in education and the arts.



General Information

The Alliance Française de Tulsa education program offers ongoing French classes at various levels priced at $200 per student for 8 meetings. And for repeat students, families, couples or AF members the cost is $185 per student.  We provide small, intimate, relaxed French lessons, emphasizing rapid immersion to French.

The classes will offer maximum opportunities to speak and participate – it will be lively, interactive and fun. Grammar concepts will be presented in the context of real life communication and culture, focusing on conversational skills and basic reading, writing and listening. A variety of media will be selected by the teacher to help develop these essential proficiencies.

“Les Petits Loustics” – classes for 1st-2nd grade or 3rd-4th grade age students are being organized.  Instructor:  Carine Larkin

“Easy French Step-by-Step” – (beginning-level or one-to-one tutoring) introduces pronunciation, verb conjugation, vocabulary, grammar and reading skills.  The textbook can be purchased (under $20) by the student or the student can borrow from a class set.  

“Intermediate/Advanced Conversation” –  A lively, intimate group reading and discussing culture, arts, society and global current events in French, using authentic French materials.  A casual, stress-free way to improve your fluency and ease in conversation. Instructor: Nan Melton

“French for Travelers/Beginning French” –  Planning a trip to France—or dreaming of one?  Come gain essential survival skills and build your confidence to travel more comfortably!  This class focuses on conversational French as well as etiquette and insight into culture.  We’ll learn phrases you can use for dining out, shopping, sightseeing, getting around, asking questions, meeting people and more, in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.  Grammar concepts are presented as tools to expand your horizons and go beyond just “phrasebook French.” Instructor: Nan Melton

  • Nan Melton received her B.A. in French (Honors) from Rockhurst University, and worked for French multinational companies for many years.  She has hosted summer interns from TOTAL and enjoys her French family.   She is Director of Education for the Alliance Francaise de Tulsa, and has also taught for the Alliance Francaise de Kansas City, where she was also a Board member, and worked for the International Visitors Council.  She has taught Spanish and English as a Second Language.  
  • Carine Larkin, a native French who moved to Tulsa in 2017 with her two kids and her American husband, has studied at Caen University (France) and Bristol University (UK) and received a B.A. in International Law.  She has worked for 20 years in London in various international companies in a management capacity, specifically a Tour Operator and a Champagne distributing company.  In Tulsa, she has been concentrating in teaching French to her two boys, ages 9 and 13 and she is now ready to share this experience with other kids, teens or adults.  Above all, she is “passionate to tell you all about (her) native language and culture.”
  • Judy Glenn enjoys teaching beginning-level or tutoring one-to-one French. She holds a BA in liberal education with emphasis in marketing, languages and psychology from Langston University.
